…and boy are my arms tired!

(this was written whilst still in the air, but posted well after settling in to the hotel)

sitting on an airplane awaiting my arrival in portland. the in flight movie was miss
congeniality 2. pretty funny, but not nearly as good as the first one. i had to spend
2 dollars on a cheap set of headphones to be able to listen to what was going on.
what a racket, cant have normal headphone jacks, have to have funky headphone jacks so that everyone has to buy headphones.

it looks like delta has worked out a deal with abc to show their lineup on the plane. luckily they also have in flight radio so that i dont have to subject myself to whatever this is on tv. some odd show about figuring out animal behavior by studying human autism. the person who wrote the book is rather androgynous(sp?) so i couldnt honestly tell you if it is a man or a woman. the bulk of the study seems to revolve around livestock, mainly cows. odd.

in other news today the changeover in cincinnati went rather well. had a 2 hr wait between flights so i got to do a pretty good amount of people watching. saw a gentleman wearing a zend php shirt. i asked him if he was going to oscon as well, he replied with “how did you know?” and kept pressing the issue. i pointed out his shirt. “oh”. obviously the gent didnt want to talk. I feel so out of place in normal society so i thought a fellow geek would be someone to talk to, but this gentleman might have been more of a sales or management type.

if all goes well, i should be landing in portland in about 45 minutes. YAY YAY

i guess i should go back to the start of my day of flying. left from evansville. ran into some trouble at the terminal. the state of illinois in their infinite wisdom has thusfar not sent me my renewal sticker for my license even though they charged me for it. i had forgotten about it since it had been 6 months ago. i had a rude reminder when i tried to get my tickets for the day and the lady almost didnt give them to me. instead she went ahead and gave them to me… marking them that i should be subjected to an additional search. damned glad i decided to be there 2 hrs before the plane left and not 10 minutes before. wasnt quite what i expected, i suppose they are worried about people suing for sexual harassment or somesuch. i was barely patted down. the longest part of it was when they were going through my bags and whatnot wiping them down with a pad that they then put into a machine to look for residues from explosives. i suppose it could have been checking for drug residue as well. i had also forgotten that in this day and age everyone has to remove their shoes and run them through the scanner. good thing i wore my boots. they have a zipper ;}.

went from evansville to cincinnati on a very small jet plane. only seated 50 passengers. i dont like small planes, they are built oh so tiny and not comfortable for someone of my stature. i would hate to be my friends Brock or Eden, both are taller than i.

i got stuck in the very back of the jet from cincinnati. at least the seats still recline somewhat and i am close to the restroom in case i need it. i should have taken some pictures in the terminal. they had a cool looking clock suspended from the ceiling.

suddenly i feel lighter, looks like we are beginning our decent. eta of 30 minutes. wish i was near a window *grumble grumble*.

time to put this away i suppose.
